Clyde Youth Sports Board, Inc (CYSB) was formed to promote youth sports in Clyde, Texas and surrounding area and to further promote the development of leadership, character, sportsmanship, tolerance, discipline, and athletic ability, and to nurture youth fitness, volunteerism, and a lifelong love of sports. CYSB will also assist in providing recreational and educational facilities for the people in and around Clyde, Texas. CYSB oversees the property where the clyde youth softball and baseball fields are present (449 FM 604 n, clyde).
The ballpark got started when Knox Waggoner and Diamond Anderson were run off the school grounds for playing baseball. The men talked back and forth and came up with the idea of having their own baseball park. So Knox Waggoner, Tex Cloud, and Diamond Anderson checked into buying some land to build a baseball park. They purchased the land (40 acres) from Clyde Bradford and Knox Douglas, and Arnold Connel signed a note for $1400 down and paid the rest out over the years. They formed the Clyde Community Parks Board and found a host of volunteers to raise money, clear the land, and turn shinnery into ball fields.
The Clyde Community Parks Board managed the complex for many years. Their sole source of revenue was from concession sales and donations. From 1986 until the new high school fields were built in 2005, all high school games were played on the fields at Clyde Community Park.
In 2005, Clyde Community Park was gifted to the City of Clyde in hopes that the city would be able to invest more money into the park, and have the opportunity for more grants from the state. There would still be a Clyde Little League Board of Directors, and a Clyde Youth Softball Association Board to manage the sporting events and run the concession stands. Over the years, parents and community members spent the time keeping up and maintaining the ballpark in order for the children of Clyde to have a facility to play baseball/softball.

Unfortunately, the city was unable to secure the grants and funding that had been anticipated.
In 2022, Clyde CISD donated land to the City of Clyde to build a new sports complex that would be located near the high school. In 2023, as the Clyde Little League Board began planning for the season, it became apparent that, although Little League and Softball would have the opportunity to play games in the new sports complex, there would not be enough field space/time for practices to take place as well. The city was unable to provide new funding for the ‘old’ fields due to spending being done around the new sports complex. The Clyde Little League Board and the Clyde Youth Softball Board together went to the City Council to discuss keeping the current complex repaired and operable due to the anticipated lack of space for practices/extra games/rescheduled games, etc. At this time a new entity was formed to manage the complex: Clyde Youth Sports Board.
The Clyde City Council listened to the concerns, and on 6/22/23 a Warranty Deed was signed by Chris McGuire, Clyde City Administrator, to gift the ballpark and land (40 acres) to Clyde Youth Sports Board, Inc.
The baseball park is a true asset to the Clyde community. Over the years it has hosted school baseball and softball games, Little League, girls’ softball games, and tournaments of all kinds. Clyde schools, citizens, and businesses have all benefited from the vision Diamond Anderson, Tex Cloud, and Knox Waggoner brought to reality when they could not find a place to hit some baseballs on a summer afternoon.
